Jordan North’s mum has sent her son a packed lunch and a note of encouragement as he struggles through his 100-mile row to Burnley for Comic Relief.
Posting to his Instagram page, the Burnley presenter shared a picture of the packed lunch to his 698,000 followers.
It is captioned: “Wendy has sent a packed lunch!”
The lunchbox was filled with an assortment of both sweet and savoury treats, including Scotch eggs, mini pork pies and midget gems.
Also included in the lunchbox is a note which reads: “Well it’s day three of your incredible journey and what a journey it’s been so far. We wanted to surprise you and encourage you.
“I have sent a few of your favourite treats to keep your spirits up and some Sudocrem for your blisters.
“Jordan, you’re ‘oarsome’ and those canals better watch out!
“You came, you swore (at times) and you conquered… locks… tunnels and sulky swans.
“So today is the day you find your Happy Place and row, row, row your boat merrily to Burnley.
“Love you lots, you’re my superstar.”
The snacks and words of encouragement couldn’t have come at a better time as he faces one of the hardest days of the challenge, with more than half of the 100-mile journey to go.
A post on the BBC Radio 1 Instagram page showed a rainy day and grey sky.
It said: “It’s very grim out today – but we’re off. It’s getting really tough out here.”
In his latest update, Jordan says he is “struggling” with the endurance challenge. Pictures show his blistered and taped up fingers.
In another picture, Jordan can be seen on the floor while being attended to by event crew.
The Radio 1 team said he “got jelly legs at the final pit stop”.
Jordan said: “Being honest, I struggled a bit this afternoon but I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a difference it makes hearing and reading all your lovely messages and support. Thank you.
“Also big love to the amazing team / support crew that are looking after me so well and have been extra brilliant today.”
